The film “In Search of a Dream” by Želimir Šarić was made in 2000 with the goal of bringing together two nations, two ways of life, and showcasing the beauty of nature through a focus on tourism and ecology.
Želimir Šarić, an announcer, journalist, and war correspondent, was born in 1945 in Zagreb and grew up in Prijedor, Banja Luka, Osijek, Zadar, and again in Banja Luka.
He worked at Radio-Banja Luka and TV Sarajevo until 1991, continuing as a war correspondent until 1995. In 1986, in Biograd, at Mladen Šutej Sailing School, he passed exams to become a ship master. In 2004, at the Maritime School in Rijeka and Zagreb, he completed advanced maritime studies to earn the title of Yacht Master, with an unlimited license for sailing worldwide.
In 2007, as captain of the sailing yacht SY Fiu, he and his friends sailed across the entire Mediterranean, from Nice in France, through Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, and the Peloponnese to Athens, where he stayed for a month, sailing the Aegean Sea.
In 2008, at the invitation of friends from America, he flew to New Jersey and sailed down the Delaware River on the 13-meter long yacht Vagabundo. On June 1st, they set sail from Cape May across the Atlantic towards the Azores and Portugal, successfully arriving after 22 days at sea.
Želimir continues to dream of open seas and oceans, but his financial situation keeps him close to the shores of the Vrbas River and Banja Luka.
