The Banja Luka Clock Tower (Sahat-kula) was one of the city’s significant landmarks and a symbol of its identity. Construction of the tower began in the 16th century as part of the Ferhadija Mosque complex.

It is believed that the tower was built to help organize Muslim prayers more effectively, as pocket watches were expensive at the time, and the tower served as a timekeeping guide for the citizens. After the 1969 earthquake, the tower was damaged. Its restoration was undertaken by a Banja Luka professor of practical education at the Technical School, a respected worker from the Čajavec factory. His dedication to the tower was highlighted in newspapers during the 1970s and 1980s, emphasizing his care and passion for the structure.

During the war in 1993, the Clock Tower was destroyed. Although its reconstruction was announced in 2020, it has yet to take place.
